Applications and generalizations of idempotents

Abstract

In this paper, we introduce the concepts of one-sided $x$-idempotents, one-sided $x$-equal elements, one-sided $x$-projections, and list some properties of them. Furthermore, we apply these elements to describe generalized inverses in rings with involution.
